Sharon's Story

SARAACC was born from lived experience. After Sharon suffered a life-altering aneurysm, her husband James stepped into the role of full-time caregiver. Through years of navigating rehabilitation, frustration, and limited resources, one truth became clear: caregivers need support just as much as patients.

Sharon Acute Rehab and Alternative Caregiver Corporation (SARAACC) is a nonprofit organization committed to transforming the lives of individuals living with traumatic brain injuries and supporting the caregivers who stand by them. Founded on a mission to advance care for brain-injured individuals, we have established ourselves as a trusted leader in combining conventional and alternative care methods to restore individuals to their highest functional ability.

Our Story

SARAACC was born from lived experience. After Sharon suffered a life-altering aneurysm, her husband James stepped into the role of full-time caregiver. Through years of navigating rehabilitation, frustration, and limited resources, one truth became clear: caregivers need support just as much as patients.

Research showed that because of the stress caregivers terminate life in some studies as much as 30% before the patients, this leaves the patient in need of a second caregiver.

The patient support normally falls on one member of the family becoming the primary caregiver, which adds additional stress.
